ÁGATHA: Qué extraño? No funciona.

ÁGATHA: It's strange! It doesn't work!

MICHAEL: ¿Tiene pilas?

MICHAEL: Has it got batteries?

ÁGATHA: Sí, sí, las cambié ayer

ÁGATHA: Yes,yes, I changed them yesterday

MICHAEL: ¿¡Qué raro¡?

MICHAEL: So strange!

ÁGATHA: Sí, qué extraño... ¿No se te habrá caído al suelo?

AGATHA: Yes... You won't have dropped it to the ground, will you?

MICHAEL: ¿Que confiese el qué? Te digo que yo no he roto nada. El mando estaba así cuando he llegado.

ÁGATHA: Sí, Sí, lo mismo pasó con la lavadora. Tú no sabías nada y al final encontramos...

MICHAEL: Lo de la lavadora no fue culpa mía, fue la pulsera.

MICHAEL: It was not my fault, it was the bracelet.

ÁGATHA: Estoy un poquito harta de que vengas a mi casa y no respetes mis cosas. ¡Te recuerdo que eres un invitado y no el dueño!

AGATHA: I am a little tired of you coming to my house and not respecting my stuff. Remember that you are a guest and not the owner!

MICHAEL: Tranquila, tranquila, que te va a dar algo.

MICHAEL: Relax yourself or you will have a shock!

ÁGATHA: Ya verás cuando mi padre se entere de que se ha roto el televisor. Y ahora no tengo dinero ni para arreglarlo ni para comprarme uno nuevo.

AGATHA: You'll see when my father finds out that the TV is broken. And now I have no money to repair it or to buy a new one.

¡Qué desastre! Y todo por tu culpa.

MICHAEL: Muy bien, tú sigue sin creerme.

MICHAEL: Well, keep on unbeliving me...

SANDRO: Chicos, ¿habéis visto mi calculadora?

SANDRO: Guys, has anybody seen my calculator?

Grammar notes

  • No funciona
    It doesn't work.

    El frigorífico no funciona.

    The fridge doesn't work.

    No funciona es una expresión para indicar que un aparato eléctrico o electrónico necesita una reparación.

  • ¡Qué raro!
    How weird!

    ¡Qué raro! ¡Qué extraño!

    How weird! How strange!

    Son expresiones que utilizamos cuando algo no nos parece normal, puede ser la acción de una persona o de un objeto o animal.

  • no fue culpa mía
    It wasn't my fault.

    Yo no rompí la ventana. No fue culpa mía.

    I didn't break the window. It wasn't my fault.

    Ser culpa de alguien. Ser culpa + pronombre posesivo (mía, tuya, suya, nuestra, vuestra) Ejemplos: Es culpa de tu hermano. Es culpa suya.

  • estoy harta
    I am fed up

    Estoy harta de ti.

    I am fed up with you.

    Estar harto/a de + algo/ alguien. Ejemplo: Estoy harto de levantarme tan pronto. I am fed up with getting up so early.

  • te va a dar algo
    You are going to have a cow/ stroke

    Cuídate. Te va a dar algo.

    Take care. You are going to have a stroke. Don't have a cow

    Dar algo a alguien. Es una expresión coloquial que utilizamos cuando alguien está nervioso y le sugerimos que se relaje y se tranquilice porque es posible que sufra un ataque de nervios, por ejemplo.
