MICHAEL: Disculpa, ¿puedes bajar un poquito el volumen?
MICHAEL: Excuse me, can you turn down the volume?
EVA: Claro... ¿Te ocurre algo?
EVA: Sure ... Are you alright?
MICHAEL: Estoy muy cansado. Demasiado.
MICHAEL: I'm very tired. Too tired.
EVA: Quizás ayer hiciste un sobreesfuerzo.
EVA: Perhaps you over strained yourself yesterday.
MICHAEL: ¡Qué va! ¡Si fue un día normal! No sé, estoy muy fatigado. No puedo con mi alma.
MICHAEL: Absolutely not! It was a normal day! I don't know, I am exhausted. "I can't stand it".
EVA: Los años.
EVA: Age.
MICHAEL: Quizás. Oye, ¿y si estoy enfermo?
MICHAEL: Maybe. Hey, what if I'm sick?
EVA: No digas tonterías. A ver, ¿qué síntomas tienes?
EVA: Don't say nonsense. Let's see, what symptoms do have?
MICHAEL: Pues me duelen las articulaciones, las piernas sobretodo. Y me duele la cabeza. ¿Y si tengo fiebre?

EVA: Yo ya sé lo que te pasa.
EVA: I know what's happening.
MICHAEL: ¿Ah sí?
MICHAEL: Ah yes?
EVA: A eso se le llama resaca. Y pasados los treinta pueden ser muy peligrosas.
EVA: It's called a hangover. And after thirty it can be very dangerous.
MICHAEL: ¡Pero si hago lo mismo de siempre!. Me levanto por la mañana, voy a trabajar, ceno... tomo unas copitas...
MICHAEL: But I always do the same thing! I get up in the morning. I go to work. I have dinner ... I have some drinks...
EVA: Pues eso, que haces lo mismo de siempre. Pero ahora eres más mayor.
EVA: Well, that's it, you do the same things as always. But now you're older.
MICHAEL: ¡Anda ya!
MICHAEL: Come on!
EVA: Además, sólo cuerpos realmente preparados pueden soportar tanto 'glamour'.
EVA: Besides, only very fit bodies can withstand so much 'glamour'.
MICHAEL: ¡Ay!

Can you turn down the volume, please?
BAJAR, has more meanings, in this case it is to turn down the sound, voice... But it also means to go down; for example to go down stairs, in Spanish Bajar la escalera. The opposite in both senses is SUBIR.

In this case OCURRIR, means the same as ¿Te pasa algo?. OCURRIR or PASAR, mean the same, for example when we ask ¿Qué pasa? What happens?, we are asking for an action, a general or personal problem.

This is an expression we use when we don't accept a critic. For example, in this chapter Michael doesn't believe Eva when she says that he is getting old and shouldn't do the same things as he used to do. It will be similar to say: DON'T BE SILLY!

All these videos are so funny and really good teaching tools…. I love this method…. to learn while having a good time, awesome !!! I watched all of them….. I’ve allready become attached to the characters. I do hope that you’re gonna make more of these….

I thought it was a good video. It used different forms of verbs, but wasn’t too hard to understand. It was very funny and keep making those videos people!

Why is it possible to only listen to the first grammar note?
BTW we upload one subtitled version which is distributed to another video networks. In the next months we’ll be working on adding new features to the player and give you the possibility to turn off the subtitles. Thanks for the suggestion! ;-)
I second Tricia’s comment about wanting to be able to turn off the subtitles. Listening is the most difficult area for me. (My current, but not completely satisfactory, solution: move down the browser window so that the subtitles don’t show.)
Is there a way to turn off the subtitles? My listening skills are in need of more work than my reading skills, but I find myself reading the text instead of concentrating on listening…. I like that the transcript is available, but I would rather not have the subtitles.
